Valencia Gardens HOPE IV is a 5-acre 260-unit redevelopment of an outdated urban public housing project. The site is located within the heart of the Mission District in San Francisco, an urban mixed-use district. The site is reorganized as a secure urban neighborhood with new public streets and private back yards mixed with courtyards.
All dwelling units have direct exterior entries with porches, stoops and walkups. The three-story buildings include parking on private interior streets. The site program call for: 260 family housing units; 9,000 sq. ft. of community space, including common facilities and a computer learning center; a 3,000 sq. ft. daycare facility; a tot lot; and public plaza.
