4th Street Enhancements – Phase 2

This location is adjacent to Courthouse Square, the heart of the City’s downtown. The objective of the project is to calm traffic, continue the pedestrian linkage on Fourth Street on the east side of 101, improve parking to enhance business, and create an attractive central business core to increase pedestrian traffic.

Design improvements include:

• Changes include saw-cutting of existing sidewalk where diagonal parking currently exists, and resurfacing to create a uniform pavement area to define the parking.
• New “roll-over” curb, similar to existing, would be installed at the edge of the parking to better demarcate between parking and sidewalk.Infill landscaping with new trees will occur at some locations.
• New bike racks and relocated furnishings and bollards.
• Long term goal to add new, updated furnishings and lighting as funding becomes available (not budgeted for in this current round of improvements).
