Mendocino Avenue Parking & Streetscape Improvements

Mendocino between 4th and 10th Streets is redesigned as a pedestrian-focused commercial street with a character similar to 4th Street. In this scenario, diagonal parking will provided on one side of the street with parallel parking on the side opposite. This pattern varies from side to side of the street in order to provide diagonal frontage as close to as many businesses as possible.

It is anticipated that the majority of improvements will fit within the existing curb-to-curb width of the street, resulting in a cost-efficient project. In some locations the existing sidewalk is in need of replacement, and repairs can be made without replacing the curb.

Main Improvements include 2 traffic lanes with diagonal parking on one side and parallel parking on the other side, street trees, lighting and furnishings.

At some intersections, a center left turn pocket will accomdate turning needs, and parking will shift to parallel on both sides of the street.
