Streetscape Design becomes the framework for development in each urban design project's planning area. Our streetscape projects focus on improving the pedestrian experience and the commerical viability of districts and neighborhoods.

Leland Avenue Streetscape, San Francisco, CA

The new streetscape develops along Leland Avenue between Bayshore Boulevard and Cora Street. Along with the overall design and planting scheme we paid attention to key intersections at Bayshore and at Peabody Street. The intersections are seen of special importance for many reasons: the intersection at Bayshore would become an entrance point to the avenue, the intersection at Peabody would become the heart of the new avenue, connected to the already successful Hans Schiller Plaza. Special attention is also given to the “typical mid-block” configuration and the “typical intersection” configuration.

McClellan Streetscape, South San Francisco, CA

The South San Francisco Transit Village Plan encompasses approximately 50 acres of existing neighborhoods and new development parcels within about 1/2 mile of the new South San Francisco BART Station. As part of the South San Francisco Transit Village Plan, VMWP developed streetscape designs for the McClellan corridor. The plan emphasizes streetscape and traffic calming enhancements, pedestrian and bicycle improvements, and a linear park along the BART underground tracks right-of-way.

Concord BART Station Plaza & Streetscape Design, Concord, CA

Following the completion of the Concord Bart Station Master Plan, the City of Concord hired VMWP to work with BART in designing and implementing a plaza and new streetscape improvements at the BART station.

Macarthur Boulevard Streetscape Concept Plan, Oakland, CA

The Macarthur Boulevard Streetscape Concept Plan provides enhancement plans for targeted areas along MacArthur Boulevard generally at 73rd to 76th Avenues, 90th Avenue and 107th to 109th Avenues in the Foothill Square area.
