Starting today, teens aging out of the foster care system can envision a difference in their lives, their futures and their housing opportunities.

Milender White (MW) broke ground on the Allison Village Apartments with the synergistic efforts of a dedicated team: Foothills Regional Housing (RFH), Van Meter Williams Pollack Architects (VMWP) and the City of Arvada. Located at 5352 Allison Street, one-half mile from the Olde Town Arvada commuter rail station, this new residential community will bring 100 new affordable residential units to Arvada, serving households between 10-70% of Area Medium Income (AMI).

It will also provide a job training center for residents and will dedicate 30% of units to youth in the Foster Futures Program in partnership with CASA and nine units dedicated to veterans (HUD-VASH program). The project is supported by Foothills Regional Housing, Urban Ventures LLC and 4% Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTCs) provided by the State of Colorado.

MW will also utilize its prefabrication processes, producing precise floor and wall panels in a controlled environment offsite and delivering and installing on-site. This process accelerates production and the project’s schedule. It also increases safety and quality while reducing waste.

“Like so many of MW’s projects,” states Darren Hinton, MW Construction Executive and Senior Vice President, “Allison Village truly delivers on our belief that when we provide high-quality residential living, with community services and easy access to public transit and local amenities, we are doing more than building buildings — we are building lives.”

The new community is designed to include 72 one-bedroom and 28 two-bedroom apartments as well as indoor and outdoor gathering spaces, a leasing office and parking. Brett Jacques, Associate Principal of VMWP remarks, “It’s been a privilege to work with organizations such as FRH, CASA, MW, and City of Arvada with mutual interests in implementing much-needed housing for the underserved. The cherry on top is that Allison Village will be providing housing for programs such as Fosters Futures and HUD-VASH. This development is a big step as we continue to chip away at making human capital investments, community improvement plans, and public health initiatives all in one package.”
