Community Feature: The “Design by Community” Affordable Housing Design Charrettes Program

Posted on: December 15, 2020

The “Design by Community” Affordable Housing Design Charrettes Program series began at the 2010 Housing Colorado Annual Conference. Housing Colorado and University of Colorado Denver’s College of Architecture and Planning have continued to offer this program on an annual basis, serving communities throughout the state.

This year, Lauren Daley and  Brett Jacques volunteered their time to explore architectural options for Habitat for Humanity of the San Juans, Montrose, Colorado. Students and fellow volunteers strategized options for a regenerative housing plan for the community and nearby riparian habitat.

All 2020 affordable housing design charette presentations are viewable here, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DULed9pByk0. The Montrose project begins after the 26:00 mark.
