Maiker Housing Partners received equity syndication to build Verrbena, an affordable housing community in The Uplands master-planned community.
WESTMINSTER – A local housing authority received equity syndication for an affordable multifamily community under construction in Adams County.
Maiker Housing Partners received $16.68 million in equity syndication from Freddie Mac in May to build Verrbena, located in The Uplands master-planned redevelopment at 2880 W. 88th Ave. Aaron Krasnow of Walker & Dunlop Affordable Housing Equity led the execution of the 4% new construction low-income housing tax credits.
“Verrbena represents an important addition to the affordable housing pipeline in the Denver metro area, combining long-term affordability with neuro-inclusive housing and supportive services,” Krasnow said. “We’re grateful to Maiker Housing Partners for their partnership in delivering a community designed to serve a broad range of residents and housing needs.”
Construction began in March, and completion is anticipated in July 2027. Deneuve Construction Services is leading construction, and Van Meter Williams Pollack LLP is serving as architect. The engineer team for the project includes Enayar Schneider Smith, serving as structural engineer; Boulder Engineering, serving as MEP; Wilson & Co., serving as civil engineer; Group 14, serving as energy engineer; and IMEG, serving as low-voltage engineer. The 46,163 square-foot community will include one and two-bedroom residences reserved for households earning between 30% and 70% of the area median income. Verrbena will also offer a neuro-inclusive housing component serving residents with intellectual and development disabilities.
Units will feature standard appliances, coat closets, ceiling fans, central air conditioning, and patios or balconies. Community amenities will include an 11,000-sf Headstart daycare and play-ground, a central laundry room, a kitchen and dining room, a community room and garden, a picnic and barbecue area, a business center, a library, an activity room, a fitness center, a dog park, sensory gardens, a rooftop deck, and more. Residents will also have access to The Uplands’ community amenities.
Verrbena will be situated in The Uplands, a large-scale community transforming 234 acres of former farmland into a mixed-use residential community. The project is adjacent to Carstens and Camenisch parks and offers proximity to retail and dining along Federal Boulevard and Interstate 25.
