Celebrating the milestones and community-driven designs that defined our work in Minnesota this year

Van Meter Williams Pollack (VMWP) has always believed that the most enduring projects are those built upon a foundation of shared values and collective vision. By blending intentional architecture with forward-thinking urban design, our firm strives to create spaces that do more than just occupy a site; they strengthen the fabric of the neighborhoods they serve. This past year has been a testament to that philosophy, as we collaborated with city leaders, residents, and fellow advocates to tackle the region’s most pressing housing and mobility challenges.

A Few Project Highlights

VMWP completed the rehab of Maple Hills Apartments for CommonBond Communities with Frerichs Construction in Red Wing. The project breathed new life into 96 units with a focus on critical upgrades, indoor air quality, universal design, water conservation, and improved amenity spaces.

We kicked off the Gentle Density Toolkit for the City of Winona, to support infill development ranging from duplexes to 24-unit infill apartments. The community weighed in on development typologies through a visual preference survey.

We re-envisioned the Shady Oak Development Strategy with Toole Design for the Cities of Hopkins and Minnetonka through a Hennepin County Planning Grant. The project set a vision for a mixed-use, active lifestyle-centered community for the 200 acre station area that will prioritize people-powered mobility, art, and culture.

With leadership by Design by Melo for VY Enterprise, we reached important design milestones on The LOMA, 62 units of sustainable affordable housing for seniors and their families, heading to construction in 2026.

Working alongside development consultants NEOO, Redesign, and AssemblyMN, we continued to provide technical assistance and visioning for mixed-use infill Development to Emerging Developers through Lake Street Lift and Hennepin County Transit Oriented Communities Predevelopment Assistance.

We are deeply grateful to for the collaborations and partnerships that continue to build community in our neighborhoods. Our focus in 2026 on creating better places to live is stronger than ever.
