Cisco Village Vision Plan | San Jose, CA

Redevelopment of an Existing Office Park into Mixed-Use Housing

DESCRIPTION

The Cisco Village Vision Plan reimagines a 55-acre portion of the existing Cisco Campus. It transforms the expansive office park into a modern, mixed-use / mixed-income neighborhood. This transformation provides room for continued growth in the South Bay. The Vision Plan calls for 60% of the 4,800+ housing units to be designated affordable and workforce housing. The remaining 40% will be rented at market rate. In addition, 80,000 sq. ft. of commercial space is also included in the proposed plan. This will create a vibrant and walkable neighborhood with easy access to the nearby VTA light rail station for residents and employees.

A large city park proposed to the South & East of the site is envisioned to be the centerpiece of the proposed development. It will include a range of active programs such as children’s playground, amphitheater, and multi-use lawns. Other smaller open spaces intersect the multi-story building, breaking up building massing. Additionally, there will be an expansive tree-lined linear park and a stormwater management system. This system will serve as a recreational space along Morgridge Way.

Van Meter Williams Pollack’s urban design work falls into three broad categories: Transit- Oriented Design, Master Planning and Specific Designs, and Design Guidelines. Using our architectural design expertise, we create development prototypes for cities that will assist them in achieving their goals to provide more intensive development in important transition areas of the community. Our design guidelines add the final level of detail to the prototypes and assist developers, property owners, and the city conceive of and design appropriate projects.

Our work always includes communication with and coordination between the City, various agencies, the development community, and community residents. It also includes an active community process. In this process, we work together with local stakeholders in workshops, charrettes, and meetings to prioritize goals and create a future vision of their place. We strive to maintain clear and open communication throughout the planning and design process. Our goal is to ensure an efficient process and the best possible product.
