River Oaks VTA HQ Campus | San Jose, CA

Redevelopment of VTA HQ Campus into Mixed-Use Development

Description

The River Oaks Vision Plan reimagines the 17.45-acre VTA HQ into a mixed-use development with affordable and market rate housing, retail and office buildings. The Plan calls for 310 affordable housing units, 785 market rate units, approximately 330,000 S.F of office space and 21,000 S.F. of retail space. A diagonal pedestrian mews connects the River Oaks Light Rail Station to the Central Tree Courtyard with existing mature Oak trees. The new 3.3-acre Riverfront Park serves as an extension of Riverview Park on the adjacent parcel.

Proximity to the Light Rail Station and a well-connected network of mews and pathways and open spaces creates a vibrant and walkable neighborhood and encourages transit ridership. The impact of parking is greatly reduced by lining them with residential or commercial uses along the pedestrian realm.

Design features

  • Pedestrian-oriented urban design and building forms
  • Corner plaza at main building entry adjacent to the Light Rail Station
  • Over 5 acres of public open space with a 3.3-acre Riverfront Park along Guadalupe River
  • Mixed-use, mixed-income community
  • Transit Oriented Community
