Since 1989, VMWP has worked hard to design sustainable, healthy homes for the future residents of our buildings. A sustainable home offers clean indoor air quality, thermal comfort, lower utility bills and quieter spaces. Beyond the benefits sustainable spaces bring to our residents, our efforts also contribute to combating climate change and addressing the recurring crises that impact our homes.
By signing onto AIA’s 2030 challenge back in 2020, we are a part of the collective for change and resilience. We renew our Sustainable Action Plan each year, based on our learned experience in the year prior. And we submit our portfolio of projects to DDx, which showcases our continued growth in designing Affordable & Sustainable Homes.
Below is the updated progress chart, showing our growth this past year and the ultimate goal of having 100% reduction in predicted Energy use Intensity (pEUI) by the year 2030.
- 30 projects and 3,511,505.21 GSF included in analysis.
- 14 projects with over 80% Net pEUI Reduction.
SAP Feature:
As signatories of the AIA 2030 Challenge, VMWP has committed to make all new buildings and renovations carbon-neutral by the year 2030 to mitigate the catastrophic effects of climate change caused by the building sector. As part of our Sustainability Action Plan (SAP), we vow to share our knowledge of sustainability practices with our design community.
